"Preach the Gospel to all creation" Mark 16:15
|"Do the Work of an Evangelist"|
This was our second missionary journey to Trinidad. This year we expanded to work with two churches. The church we worked with last year was headed by Pastor Banister. He had told us last year about his plans to plant 5 churches in the surrounding area. This year the first satellite church had just begun in Bagatel, a suburb of Diego Martin, Trinidad. So four of our team members, worked with that church in the surrounding area. We had many of their church members go out with us every day to learn how to share their faith. Many in the church were trained to share their faith and we look to find an even larger congregation when we return. It is encouraging to see people that love the Lord and are eager to learn how to share their faith with others.
Our other four team members worked with a local Baptist Church headed by Pastor Rampersad. Last year he had invited us to work with them. So this year when we returned God chose just the right four to work in this area. It is really awesome how God works these things out. (Eph 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. NIV) This area had a great number of drug dealers, and God needed to have just the right group of people to work with them. We had four special people that with Gods help were able to connect with these people. One of the drug dealers, which was one of the ones in charge, not only prayed to receive Christ, but he also graced the door of the church for the very first time in his life. He said he had never before been inside a church. God did amazing things in this area, many others, Hindus, Muslims, and those that just didn't know what to believe trusted in Jesus Christ for the very first time. This area was greatly impacted with the Gospel message and will never be the same again. We are praying to see even more people in church next year, as that area makes decisions for Christ.
In total we shared the Gospel 398 times to 467 people. And God the increase, we saw a total of 217 people receiving Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. We also trained many to share their faith, and we trust that God will keep them "doing the work of an evangelist." (2 Tim 4:5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. NIV) God is definitely doing a work in Trinidad, as well as the work He did in us as we grew closer to Him. Two of our team members had never done anything like this trip before, and by just being faithful to the call, God used them in mighty ways in His Kingdom work! They will never be the same again.
